EverDriven Approaches 2.5 Million Ride Milestone in Its Founding State of California

Two Decades After Its California Start, EverDriven Continues to Lead the Future of Modern Student Transportation

EverDriven, the nation’s leader in Alternative Student Transportation, has reached a major milestone in California, the state where its journey began. For almost 20 years, EverDriven has safely completed nearly 2.5 million rides and traveled 27.5 million miles, serving more than 13,800 students across hundreds of districts, giving families and districts throughout the Golden State peace of mind.

Formerly known as ALC Schools, EverDriven started in Orange County, California, when its founders saw an opportunity to help students with unique transportation needs arrive to and from school safely. That mission still drives the company today as it continues to expand across the country, now serving more than 800 districts across 36 states.

“California has always been a pioneer in alternative transportation, and the work the team began here two decades ago set the standard for what safe, modern student transportation could look like,” said Mitch Bowling, CEO of EverDriven. “Today, that leadership continues through our early alignment with SB88 and the safety-first approach we bring to districts nationwide. Our focus remains the same: ensuring every student has access to safe, reliable transportation.”

Last school year in California, EverDriven transported 3,352 students, completed 263,645 rides, and logged more than 3.5 million miles across the state. A sampling of districts currently partnering with EverDriven include Burbank Unified School District, Capistrano Unified School District, and Santa Clara Unified School District, with new additions such as Los Gatos Union School District, SIA Tech, and Val Verde Unified School District.

Safety has always been at the center of EverDriven’s approach. When California introduced SB 88, a landmark law setting new standards for student transportation, including enhanced safety protocols, driver training, and vehicle maintenance, EverDriven didn’t wait for the July 1, 2025, deadline. The company implemented the changes months ahead of schedule, ensuring districts and families could trust their students’ rides from day one.

“EverDriven took the guesswork out of SB88 compliance. Their expert team ensures drivers, vehicles, and reporting are fully aligned with the new regulations. Honestly, their practices have always been the safest in the business. Even prior to any legislative requirements, EverDriven maintained a well-established reputation for providing safe, student-centered alternative transportation. Their proactive approach gave us confidence that we were fully compliant—long before the deadline,” said Carlos Chicas, the Executive Director, Maintenance, Operations and Transportation at Capistrano Unified School District located in South Orange County, California.

Looking Ahead

As EverDriven celebrates this milestone in its founding state, the company remains focused on its mission to modernize student transportation while removing a barrier to education for students nationwide. With continued investments in safety, technology, and service excellence, EverDriven is committed to helping districts meet evolving needs and ensuring every student has a reliable path to education.
